We will have a number of elected vacancies arising on our Executive Committee after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in April 2019. Beth Watts as HSA Chair and Lindsey McCarthy as Secretary would like to invite interested candidates to get in touch. Those who decide to put themselves forward will be asked to provide a cover letter detailing their name, occupation, employer and a statement of interest (of no more than 250 words) in joining the Executive Committee. To be eligible to stand for election you must be a member of the Housing Studies Association.
Expressions of interest should be emailed to Beth Watts (B.Watts@hw.ac.uk) and Lindsey McCarthy (L.McCarthy@shu.ac.uk) by 5pm on Friday 1st March 2019. We are happy to give more information about Executive Committee roles, responsibilities and expectations.
Details on the HSA elections process (as set out in the HSA Constitution) are set out below:
1. If the number of expressions of interest received is equal to or less than vacant committee places then no ballot is required and candidates are notified. It is announced to the wider membership at the AGM on the first day of the annual conference (10th April 2019) at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria, Sheffield.
2. A ballot is required if the number of expressions of interest exceeds the number of vacant places on the committee. An email ballot will be sent out by the Secretariat to the HSA membership in March (allowing at least two weeks for members to cast their votes before the AGM). The email will include as attachments a ballot paper and the statements of interest from the candidates standing.
3. Election results are announced at the AGM on the first day of the annual conference (10th April 2019) at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria, Sheffield.
