Housing Studies Association member John Flint, Professor of Town and Regional Planning at the University of Sheffield, has been appointed as a member of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 sub-panel on Architecture, Built Environment and Planning. Full details of the main and sub-panel members appointed can be viewed here (PDF).
In response to the announcement, Professor Flint said:
“It is a real honour and great responsibility to be invited to be a member of the REF2021 sub-panel 13. I am incredibly grateful to the Housing Studies Association, and Beth Watts in particular, for their support of my nomination. I will endeavour to ensure that the interests of all the housing studies research and research users community in the UK are fully represented at all stages of the REF exercise.”
Dr Beth Watts, Chair of the HSA, added:
“Professor Flint has been a long-standing member of the Housing Studies Association and has played an enormously important role in promoting housing studies, not only through his own wide-ranging and impactful scholarship, but also in his continuing support of early career housing researchers. We are delighted and grateful that he is able and willing to continue to serve the housing studies discipline and wider academy as a sub-panel member.”
Professor Flint has been appointed to sub-panel 13 for the ‘criteria phase’ of REF2021, and will help develop the main panel criteria over the course of 2018. In 2020, a second phase of nominations will be used to appoint further sub-panel members for the ‘assessment phase’ of REF during 2021.
