Salford Professional Development and the University of Salford are hosting the Social Housing conference on the 25th January, the event will play host to a range of local government associations and charities to discuss Social Housing in the North.
“The Social Housing Conference: Fixing the Broken Market” will be exploring Greater Manchester’s strategy to tackle the housing shortage, affordable homes, benefit dependency and much more. With the National Housing Federation conference just passed, their statement of a requirement for “fundamental rethink of social housing in the country” has resounded across the sector. The announcement from Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, regarding a green paper that will explore the social housing crisis, will certainly cause repercussions that will change the way social housing works. Topics such as economic growth, benefit dependence and securing housing for the most vulnerable, will be themes present on the day with much more to be detailed soon.
